FIP - Navigational Tools,

Mandatory Language Buttons:
Bilingual Welcome Pages

CLF Illustration Navigation from the Welcome page of Web sites is simple: users have only to choose the official language in which they wish to proceed. The English and French language buttons are an integral part the Welcome page framework, all of which is designed to enhance recognition of government Web sites through visual cues and identifiers. For this reason, the language buttons must appear on the bilingual Welcome page of all sites and sub-sites without alteration. The screen capture above illustrates proper positioning of the language button graphics, as well as the appropriate sizing of the "Canada" wordmark in relation to the language buttons. The specific order of the language buttons is determined by language of the majority of the population of the province where the institution is located.

Note: Information on the application of the third mandatory element on the Welcome Page - the FIP Signature and the "Canada" wordmark - can be found under Government Identifiers.
