have partnered with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to develop "Moving
Without Motors"
: A Guide to the Active Transportation Community
designed specifically for municipal council and their staff who are
in a pivotal position to promote and implement sustainable, active
transportation. It provides access to information and best practices
from Canada and internationally. It is also an interactive forum for
professionals to share ideas, pose questions, discuss strategies and
build networks.
Health Canada has a joint Sustainable Development Strategy with Transport
Canada and commits to strengthening partnerships with other federal departments
and non-government organizations with regards to active transportation
to contribute to a healthier population.
Health Canada will promote awareness
and engagement of Canadians in "active
transportation” as
an important element of a mix of intragrated strategies to increase physical
activity levels and improve the health of Canadians.
