Welcome to CBCN

Welcome to the Canadian Botanical Conservation Network (CBCN). Our objective is to preserve the biological diversity of Canada's rare and endangered native plant species, wild habitats and ecosystems through the education and conservation programs of our members, including botanical gardens and arboreta.

  • Launch of "Conserving Plant Diversity: The 2010 Challenge for Canadian Botanical Gardens" planned for 12 April 2006 in Vancouver

At the conference entitled "Biodiversity Education and Conservation Colloquium II" in Vancouver, the 2006 update to the 2001 "Biodiversity Action Plan for Botanical Gardens and Arboreta in Canada" will be released. This update is the result of consultations over the past six months with botanical gardens across Canada, and links the work of Canadian botanical gardens and arboreta into the pending North American Strategy for Botanic Gardens in Conservation. A pdf version of both the English and French editions of the new document will be available on the CBCN web site the week of 18 April.
