Pursuant to House of Commons Standing Order 109, the attached documents are
the Government of Canada response to the recommendations set out in the
Sixteenth Report of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, tabled in the
House of Commons on February 19, 2002.
The comprehensive response of the Government to the recommendations contained
in the Sixteenth Report of the Public Accounts Committee was tabled on July 17,
2002. It includes an action plan that addresses federal health and safety
regulatory programs horizontally and provides examples of initiatives as
demonstrations of practical implementation.
The following departments and agencies worked together in preparing the
Government response and action plan: Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Canadian
Nuclear Safety Commission, Environment Canada, Health Canada, National Energy
Board, Privy Council Office, Transport Canada and Treasury Board Secretariat.
