Chalk River Laboratories, November 25, 2004
— Exceeding their goal wasn't a surprise for Donna Roach, Chairperson of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited’s (AECL) 2004 United Way Campaign. AECL provides status report on Cernavoda Unit 2 Project - Initiates Commissioning Process on Second CANDU

— Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) announced today that it has initiated the commissioning process on the second CANDU 6 unit at Cernavoda, located near the Black Sea, approximately 180 kilometres from Bucharest, Romania.

United States and Canada Agree on Joint Nuclear Energy Research Projects

The U.S Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and (in support of NRCan) Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), under the bilateral International Nuclear Energy Research Initiative (I-NERI) Agreement, signed on June 17, 2003, agreed to collaborate on seven projects totaling approximately $20 million.
