Mutilated Notes

How to Prepare Mutilated Notes for Shipping

  1. Do not handle bank note fragments more than is absolutely necessary, regardless of the condition of the bank note.
  2. If the bank note is brittle or inclined to fall apart, pack it carefully in fragile packing material (such as bubble wrap) and place in a secure container.
  3. If the bank note was mutilated in a purse, wallet, box, or another container, it should be left in the container to protect the fragments from further damage.
  4. If absolutely necessary, remove the fragments from the container, send the container along with the currency if possible, and any other contents that may have fragments attached.
  5. Remove coins or any other metal objects that may have been mixed in with the bank notes when mutilated (if possible) without causing further damage to the mutilated notes.
  6. If the bank note was flat, do not roll or fold the notes.
  7. If the bank note was rolled, do not attempt to unroll or straighten out.
