Organization of CANDU Industries joins Team CANDU

Association of 83 companies backs CANDU for new electricity generation in Ontario

Mississauga, 2006 October 23 — The Organization of CANDU Industries (OCI) is joining Team CANDU as an Associate Member and putting its full support behind the selection of CANDU technology for new nuclear power plants in Ontario.

Team CANDU“The Organization of CANDU Industries has a proud tradition of supplying products and services for CANDU reactors built by AECL and Team CANDU around the world,” says OCI General Manager Martyn Wash. “Ontario’s nuclear industry is a $4 billion per year industry supported by more than 25,000 workers. We are looking forward to working with Team CANDU to deliver new CANDU generating stations, right here in Ontario in our home market.”

Team CANDU’s delivery approach has been successfully deployed in other countries around the world for more than a decade. Each of the partner companies takes on its share of project risk to deliver new CANDU power plants on time and on budget.

“The addition of OCI member companies as Team CANDU Associates is a great example of the depth and breadth of support that is in place right here in Ontario for the CANDU industry,” said AECL’s President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Van Adel. “CANDU is a world-class performer and Team CANDU is fully equipped to bring new CANDU plants to market in Ontario.”
