About Us
CDIC's Board of Directors comprises the Chairperson, the Governor of the Bank of Canada, the Deputy Minister of Finance, and the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, a Deputy Superintendent of Financial Institutions and the Commissioner of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada. There are five private-sector directors as well.

The President and Chief Executive Officer is the executive head of the Corporation's management. CDIC has approximately 79 employees.

CDIC is financed through premiums collected from member institutions in support of deposit insurance and through funds collected on claims and recoveries as the assets of failed member institutions are liquidated. CDIC receives no government subsidies.

This structure provides an operational framework for accountability and control of day-to-day operations. However, in dealing with intervention projects, a cross-functional matrix organization structure is put in place. This structure results in reporting relationships that enable the project manager to draw on expert services across a number of departments in an efficient and timely manner. It results in a "team" approach to intervention projects. The project manager is accountable for the project results. -->
