The Currency Museum is pleased to offer a number of programs designed especially for children and youth. Click on the links below to find out more.


Curious Currency Chests (for ages 3-6)
If you were a pirate what would you put in your treasure chest? What makes something precious to you?
Well! here at the Currency Museum we have chosen some of our more curious treasures to share with you!


Dig It! (for ages 8-14)
Come on one of our mock archaeology digs to learn about the evolution of money around the world!


Money Matters (for ages 10-14)
Working in teams, young people discover more about the history of bank notes, how they are made, and how to tell a fake from the real thing.


Inflation Busters (School Program)
Fighting inflation is no easy job, but learning about it can be fun! Inflation Busters is a dynamic program for high school economics students.
Your students can:
• Be contestants on "The Price is What?," a game show about inflation and its causes.
• Experience life as pensioners, corporate executives, or single parents in an economy with hyperinflation in the simulation game "Inflation Nation."
• Try playing the role of a Bank of Canada economist in the game "Right on the Money."

Age Group: 15-18
Number of participants: minimum 12 – maximum 60
Program Length: 2 hours
Program available September through April (Fridays only)


Guided Tours (for students of all ages)
Students learn all about the history of money around the world and in Canada on one of our hour long guided tours of the Currency Museum.


Programs and Tours for ESL and FLS Groups (for students of all ages)
The Currency Museum is pleased to offer educational programs designed for English or French as a Second Language groups. Bring your class to a specially adapted version of our Dig It school program. This program is for ESL and FSL students of all-ages and encourages hands-on learning and active participation in discussions. Your students will be able to expand their vocabulary and learn about currency from around the world at the same time! It is appropriate for Basic or Intermediate level classes. The Currency Museum also offers guided tours tailored to meet the needs of Advanced level classes. Programs for French as a Second Language groups are currently under development.
