Sonic Weave - July 2003

Sonic Weave, an initiative of the Canada Council for the Arts, featured six Canadian groups or at 12 festivals and venus in Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Austria and Italy in July 2003. This project was designed as a one-time initiative to develop career and market capacity for Canadian musicians from the world, roots and folk music community. Sonic Weave provided an up-to-the-minute snapshot of the talent, diversity and breadth of folk and world music in Canada.

The artists featured as part of Sonic Weave were selected in a national competition. The six groups a snapshot of the talent, diversity and breadth of folk and world music in Canada.

Sonic Weave was a sampling of the many Canadian artists performing folk and world music. It was the first joint presentation between the Canada Council for the Arts and European festivals designed to profile Canada's best folk and world artists to European audiences.
