Disclosure

Purpose
At AECL, we value accountability and open and honest communication. AECL recognizes that public accountability is a fundamental aspect to good business management. As such, we are committed to disclosing information to foster openness and transparency while at the same time seeking a balance with the need for maintaining confidentiality of information as required to protect AECL’s activities and Canada’s nuclear legacy.


This policy takes precedence over those parts of any previous AECL policy or procedure that is in conflict with provisions of this policy.

Questions about this policy can be directed to the Director, Corporate Communications.

Policy
We are committed to disclosing information about our mandate, operations and activities to foster public accountability.

We support and encourage open communication with our stakeholders to promote a greater understanding of our activities and the nuclear industry.

We are committed to disclosing information in a timely, accurate and comprehensive manner.

We will seek opportunities to promote further transparency and accountability.

We will not disclose confidential information.

Effective Date
This policy is authorized by AECL's Board of Directors and takes effect 2003 September 11.  The policy applies to information or records generated from this date and is not retroactive.
