Biographical note

Thérèse Laflèche

Thérèse Laflèche was appointed Senior Representative (Economics) at the Bank's Regional Office for Quebec in 2004. In this capacity, she directs research and analysis on economic and financial developments in the region. She also plays a major role in the Office's activities in communicating the Bank's messages to a variety of external audiences and promoting an exchange of views on the economy and monetary policy.

Born in Montréal, Quebec, Ms. Laflèche received a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the Université de Montréal, as well as a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a master's degree in Applied Economics from Montréal's École des hautes études commerciales.

Ms. Laflèche was first hired as an economist at the Bank of Canada in 1991. After a brief period at the Applied Research Branch of the Department of Human Resources Development, she returned to Montréal in 2000, where she worked as a senior economist at Laurentian Bank Securities and as an adviser, financial models at the Caisse centrale Desjardins.
