Sea Cadets

 Logo des cadets de la MarineSea Cadets learn about naval traditions through participation in a variety of activities on-and-off the water. They specialize in sailing, seamanship, shipboard life, naval communications, power boat handling, boat repair, marine engineering, tall ship training and ship deployments. Sea Cadets can earn a chance to participate in a national sailing regatta or to sail aboard a tall ship.

Local Training

Sea Cadet training is divided into four phases with an additional corps apprenticeship training option for senior cadets. The following subjects are part of the program:

  • Bushcraft
  • Citizenship
  • Drill
  • Marksmanship
  • Physical Fitness
  • Sailing
  • Sea Cadet Routine
  • Naval Knowledge
  • Seamanship
  • Leadership
  • Instructional Techniques

Summer Training

Sea Cadets learn valuable life skills and intrinsic values through a variety of sailing exercices and seamanship activities. Canada's coastline offers a natural setting for sea cadets to practice what they have learned and to develop their leadership potential.

Approximately 5000 Sea Cadets participate in summer training offered in camps in Comox BC; Fort Qu'appelle SK; Kingston ON; Ste-Angèle-de-Laval QC; Cornwallis NS; and St. John's NF. More information on these courses is available.

Top senior cadets may participate in international cultural and training exchanges.
