Biographical note

Janet Cosier

Mrs. Cosier has been Adviser to the Governor since 1992. In January 2001, she was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Payments Association.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Mrs. Cosier, who holds degrees from York University and the University of Windsor, is a Certified Management Accountant. She joined the Bank in 1980 and served in a variety of functions including Comptroller and Chief Accountant, as well as Internal Auditor, before being appointed Adviser to the Governor in 1992. She has also been active on board committees of the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario and the Financial Management Institute of Canada (Capital Chapter).

Before joining the Bank of Canada, Mrs. Cosier worked with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and with the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce.
