MSDS plus CHEMINFO FAQs

MSDS plus CHEMINFO contains both a database with supplier Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on tens of thousands of chemical products (explaining hazards and safety procedures for a substance such as rubbing alcohol or paint), as well as the CHEMINFO database. CHEMINFO complements the MSDS database by providing excellent comprehensive health and safety reviews for the key ingredients found in many products (over 1300 specific chemicals).

The FTSS database contains over 55 000 Material Safety Data Sheets - in French.

For more detailed information on each database, refer to the FAQs for the MSDS, FTSS and CHEMINFO database.

The MSDS/FTSS databases are available for mounting on your own internal Intranet, see MSDS/FTSS Intranet Service.

Can I search across both databases by CAS number?

Yes. If the MSDS product itself has a CAS number, in most cases, this will be found in the identification fields and can be retrieved by searching MSDS plus CHEMINFO. For example, a simple search of MSDS plus CHEMINFO for CAS Number 50-00-0 will result in one record in CHEMINFO and three records in MSDS. Click the database tab to view the records.

Can I search across both databases by Trade Name?

Yes. If the CHEMINFO record includes a chemical trade name this will be found in the identification fields and can be retrieved by searching MSDS plus CHEMINFO. For example, a simple search of MSDS plus CHEMINFO for Clorox will result in one record in CHEMINFO and one record in MSDS. Click the database tab to view the records.
