New Jersey Hazardous Substance Fact Sheets Database

The New Jersey Hazardous Substance Fact Sheets (NJHS Fact Sheets) database provides users with easy to read and summarized fact sheets, containing hazard data and safe working procedures for over 1,000 chemicals.

For each hazardous chemical, there is a summary of potential hazards, workplace exposure limits, workplace control measures, human health effects (short and long-term), medical testing recommendations, spill and emergency response, and other safety information.

The database is produced by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services Right to-Know Program. Records are in English.

Database Highlights

  • summarized health and safety information in simple and clear language.
  • over 1,000 fact sheets on important hazardous substances found in workplaces and the environment (eg. lead, mercury, DDT).
  • useful glossary of terms, plus basic questions and answers in each fact sheet.
  • wide range of recommendations on spill and emergency response, storage and handling, reducing workplace exposures, personal protective equipment and medical testing.
