The Chemical Hazards Response Information System (CHRIS) database is a comprehensive source of emergency response information for those involved in the transport of hazardous materials. The database is based upon the text of the United States Coast Guard printed CHRIS Manual. It is useful for many different types of emergency situations including spills. Records for more than 1,300 hazardous materials are provided in English.
Each record for a hazardous material contains key identification data such as synonyms, CAS numbers, hazard labels and observable characteristics. In addition, information useful for emergency response situations, such as health, fire and reactivity hazards, first-aid, water pollution, shipping and hazard classifications, and physical and chemical properties, is included in each record.
Database Highlights
- identifies emergency actions, and specific fire and water pollution response
- provides potential symptoms of exposure, as well as personal protective equipment and first-aid recommendations
- extensive lists of hazard ratings and classifications, including hazardous materials transport, water shipment and water pollution
- over 1,300 hazardous chemical records from an authoritative source (US Coast Guard)
