Evaluation of 2003 Summer Institute
The Summer Institute, co-sponsored by the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse and the Addictions Research Centre, Correctional Service of Canada, will take place at the site of the Addictions Research Centre, a unique training venue. The aim of the Institute is to provide experienced professionals with advanced information on evidence-based models, and opportunities to consider application and implementation issues.
This first year's Institute is focusing on substance abuse treatment under the theme, "Evidence-based Options for Working with Resistant Clients". As the Agenda indicates, we have assembled a strong faculty to lead each day of the Institute, and have secured Dr. Alan Marlatt, a leading scholar on addictive behaviour to lead participants into the topic on the first day.
The event will be fully available in French and English and is intended for senior clinician/trainers with experience in the planning and delivery of services mainly in the health, social and criminal justice sectors. Participants will have scheduled opportunities throughout the event to consider their particular application and cross-sectoral issues, as well as a unique forum for input into national research, best practice development and training agendas.
The fee for the 4-day event is $500; the deadline for registration is August 8th, with registration limited to 50 persons. Questions and comments are welcomed and can be directed to Gary Roberts, CCSA (613-235-4048 x225; groberts@ccsa.ca) or Lucy Hume, of the Addiction Research Centre (902-838-5900; addictions.research@csc-scc.gc.ca).
