NIOSHTIC® with OSHLINE®
OSHLINE®,a new health and
safety resource, is available from the Canadian Centre for Occupational
Health and Safety (CCOHS). Created by CCOHS, OSHLINE complements
the coverage of the OSH literature formerly provided by the highly-respected
NIOSHTIC® database of the US National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health (NIOSH).
NIOSH has discontinued the updating
of the NIOSHTIC database since 1998 and will now be indexing only
NIOSH-authored or funded articles and reports. To fill the information
gap created by this change, and in response to the needs of users,
CCOHS will index the world literature through the new OSHLINE
service.
OSHLINE offers users convenient
access to references of the most currently published oh&s
journal articles, research reports, books, studies and more. OSHLINE
records complement NIOSHTIC records in quality and content, while
offering improved searching and consistency of the records. New
journals have also been added to the full list of journals previously
referenced by NIOSHTIC for coverage in OSHLINE. This list will
continue to be updated with the changing status of published literature
on occupational health and safety.
Health and safety specialists
who depend on NIOSHTIC as a practical working tool will be pleased
to know that NIOSHTIC's detailed records and unique historical
information will still be available from CCOHS along with its
new complementary database, OSHLINE. It will also be possible
to search the two databases as a seamless composite.
NIOSHTIC® with OSHLINE®
is available from CCOHS on CD-ROM and through it's internet service,
CCINFOweb. Annual subscriptions are $300 CDA/US ($350 International),
and multi-user pricing packages are available.
As Canada's national centre for
occupational health and safety information, CCOHS is committed
to providing impartial, accurate, useful information to all parties
in the workplace. For this reason, we are constantly updating
our information to provide the most current and reliable data.
NIOSHTIC® with OSHLINE is another example of our efforts to
provide products and services which, designed with an emphasis
on prevention, foster improvements in the workplace.
