The major element of Small Business Week® national launch is the Young Entrepreneur Awards (YEA) ceremony that BDC has held since 1988. These awards are presented to young entrepreneurs aged between 19 and 35, representing Canada's 13 provinces and territories, who have distinguished themselves for their business sense and innovative spirit.The 2006 Young Entrepreneur Awards ceremony will take place on October 17, in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Selection criteriaThe winners are selected by a panel of business people, entrepreneurs, members of chambers of commerce and BDC representatives. The following selection criteria apply to all nominees: the originality of the business concept, its success, growth potential, and social involvement.
