Authority for Promotion of Cadets

The Commanding Officer of a cadet corps may promote an army cadet subject to the following conditions:

• promotion is not automatic, rank must be earned by qualification and merit
• a vacancy must exist within the cadet corps
• unless the cadet is qualified for the rank, the promotion of a cadet to a cadet rank above master corporal shall be in acting rank only.
