Charles joined BDC Venture Capital in 2001 as Managing Director, Life Sciences. As Vice President, Venture Capital, he is currently responsible for direct investments made by the BDC specialty groups. Charles has over 15 years of venture capital experience as well as banking and M & A experience. Most recently, Charles was Vice President of Accès Capital, a subsidiary of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of numerous public and private companies and presently sits on the Board of Réseau Capital. For several years, he was an Instructor of Finance at École des Hautes Études Commerciales in Montréal.

Charles holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Science in Biology from Laurentian University and an Honors Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo.

Brian is Vice President, Fund Investments of BDC Venture Capital. He is responsible for managing the BDC's specialty venture capital fund investments and implementing a private equity "fund of funds" strategy. Brian has 12 years experience in venture capital, primarily in software and information technology ventures and fund of fund investments. Prior to his appointment to Vice President Fund Investments, Brian was Managing Director, Information Technology at BDC. Brian has served on the boards of numerous private and public companies as well advisory committees of private venture capital funds.

He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with B.Comm. and MBA degrees. Brian is the current President of the Venture Capital Association of Alberta.

Robert joined BDC Venture Capital in 1994. He is responsible for seed technology investments across Canada.

An entrepreneur who understands both sides of a technology venture, Robert has been involved in venture capital since 1985 when he was at the Agence québécoise de valorisation industrielle de la recherche (AQVIR), the first seed investment fund in Quebec. He also founded and operated a service-based company, designing electronics and firmware as well as prototyping and pre-production testing for the original equipment manufacturer clients. He has held technology and management positions in other companies, developing, producing, and selling information technology products such as computer graphics hardware, data acquisition, real-time control systems, and mobile communications.

Robert Inglese holds Bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology and Major in Telecommunications from the École de technologie supérieure (University of Quebec).

The telecommunications team is led by Glenn Egan who joined BDC Venture Capital in 2000. Glenn brings 20 years of operational experience to the position including 15 years in wireless products and services. Prior to joining BDC he spent 3 years as Vice President, Business Development for EMS Technologies. He spent the previous 12 years in various senior positions with wireless carriers including a wireless start-up.

Glenn Egan holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a MBA from the University of Western Ontario.

Denis joined BDC Venture Capital in 2003 as Managing Director, Life Sciences.

Denis Ho has over 20 years of experience in the North American financial markets including years with MDS Capital Corp. as venture partner, Forbes Capital Canada Inc. as partner, KPMG as partner and Mercantile Bank of Canada as account manager.

Denis holds an MBA, University of Western Ontario, an M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology, Queen's University and a B.Sc., from the University of Toronto.

Jim has over 20 years of venture capital experience and now leads a team of Investment Directors focused on Advanced Technologies across Canada.

Prior to joining the BDC Venture Capital in 1996, Jim Orgill was Vice President of Innovation Ontario Corporation, which became one of the largest venture capital seed investors in technology firms in Canada. The Corporation was the 10th largest venture capital fund in the country with over $70 million dollars invested in 1994. Many of Jim's early stage investments at Innovation Ontario grew significantly and are now well known names in the business community including: Research in Motion, Certicom, Open Text, and Data Mirror.

Jim Orgill is a mechanical engineer with both Bachelor and Masters of Applied Science degrees from the University of Waterloo.

Frank leads a team of Investment Directors focused on Information Technology across Canada. He joined BDC in 1991 and BDC Venture Capital in 1995.

Frank's experience includes working with the Corporate Finance Group at CP Rail where he reviews projects greater than $25 million. Prior to CP Rail, Frank was with Ernst & Young (E&Y), involved in planning, design and implementation of Strategic Information Technology plan, Systems Conversion, and Management Information Systems. While at E&Y he successfully turned around a division of Procter & Gamble.  Frank has been a guest lecturer at SFU for the Executive MBA Program and MBA Information Technology and is currently a Director of Monte Jade Science and Technology Association (Western Canada), an international organization with 14 chapters in North America and Asia.

Frank Pho holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University and is a Chartered Accountant.

Robert has over 20 years of experience in corporate lending and venture capital. Throughout his career, he has been involved in the start-up and development of small and medium-sized companies. Before joining BDC Venture Capital in 1998, he led a team of 10 professionals managing a loan portfolio totaling $220 million at the Montreal Branch of BDC.

Robert is responsible for BDC Venture Capital's operations from back-office support to financial planning and analysis, controls, and administration.

Robert Lapalme holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) degree from the Université de Laval and an MBA from UQAM.
