Aboriginal Employment Preferences Policy This revised policy replaces the 1990 policy and is the result of a two-year policy review that included two rounds of consultations with First Nations. As in the original policy, the revised policy provides that First Nations employers can, in accordance with the provisions of the policy, give preference in employment to Aboriginal persons. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) A policy paper explaining the Commission's position on AIDS, the rights of those with the disease and obligations of employers. Policy on Special Programs A policy explaining the Commission’s understanding of what constitutes a special program for purposes of the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Employment Equity Act. This policy is issued to assist employers and service providers to develop and put in place appropriate special programs when these are used to ensure equality is achieved.
