CWB announces interim payments for the 2005-06 crop year
Winnipeg -- The CWB today announced interim payments will be made on all grades of wheat and durum delivered to the CWB during the 2005-06 crop year, as well as feed barley delivered into the 2005-06 Pool B.
Interim payments represent partial settlement of the proceeds due to farmers from the sale of their grain. Interim payments are issued after July 31 (the crop year runs from August 1 to July 31) and are an earlier payment of proceeds that would otherwise be included in the final payment. For feed barley, this interim payment is derived from proceeds on grain in Pool B, which runs from February 1 to July 31.
The interim payments for wheat are $8 per tonne. The interim payments for durum wheat are $8 to $10 per tonne. The interim payments for feed barley Pool B are $46 per tonne and, for designated barley, $5 per tonne.
The table below shows the initial payment in effect at the end of the 2005-06 crop year, the interim payment and the total to date, basis in-store Vancouver or St. Lawrence, for base grades of wheat, durum and feed barley. A complete list is posted on the CWB Web site at www.cwb.ca.
Payment rates for specific grades can also be obtained by calling the CWB toll-free at 1-800-275-4292. To estimate the remaining payments, compare the total paid to date with the CWB’s September 2006 Pool Return Outlook (PRO) for the 2005-06 crop year, which is also posted on the Web site.
The CWB is investigating the possibilities for combining this interim with the upcoming final payment, with expectations that a combined cheque or direct deposit would go out to farmers on December 15, 2006. A further announcement will be made on this subject.
