CWB feeds farmers' hunger for information at Crop Production Week

January 14, 2004

Winnipeg – The CWB will provide farmers with critical information on markets, weather, agronomy and new CWB programs during a day long meeting at the Saskatoon Inn on January 16 as part of Crop Production Week.

CWB President and CEO Adrian Measner will kick the day off with a look at what is happening in world markets and the implications for western Canadian farmers. Measner will also discuss some of the new marketing opportunities the CWB is pursuing and long-term trends in global consumption of wheat and barley.

"Farmers are deciding what to plant. This time of year is about planning for the future," said Measner. "Information is at a premium, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to share some of our market intelligence with farmers during Crop Production Week."

Other highlights of the CWB meeting include both a weather and agronomy outlook and a presentation on a recent CWB fact-finding mission to Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. A question-and-answer session with the five farmer-elected CWB directors from Saskatchewan will end the day. A copy of the agenda is attached. The CWB is a proud sponsor of Crop Production Week which runs from January 12 to 17, 2004 in Saskatoon.
