Feb. 11, 2005

Winnipeg -- The CWB today announced that 2004-05 initial payments for wheat, durum and designated barley will increase effective February 15, 2005.

The increase in initial payments for wheat will be $2.35 to $30.30 per tonne, depending upon the grade. On feed wheat and some minor classes of wheat there will be no increase in payment. In the case of durum, the increase will be $2.00 to $35.20 per tonne, except for No. 5 Canada Western Amber Durum, which will not increase. For designated barley, the increase will be $21.00 per tonne on two-row and $18.00 on six-row.
