Adjustment payments for 2000-01 crop year approved
Winnipeg -- The CWB today announced that increases to the
2000-01 initial payments for wheat, durum, feed barley and
designated barley have been approved.
Effective June 27, 2001, initial payments for wheat will increase
up to $18 per tonne depending on the class and grade. Initial
payments for durum will increase up to $30 per tonne. Both feed and
two-row designated barley prices will see increases up to $6 per
tonne. Initial payments for six-row designated barley will not be
increased at this time. The adjustment payments, in dollars per
tonne, for representative grades in each pool account are listed
below. The total payment is based on the value of grain in-store at
Vancouver or St. Lawrence.

A complete listing of payments for all grades in dollars per tonne
and dollars per bushel is posted on the CWB´s Web site (under
the Payments link) at www.cwb.ca.
Farmers who delivered wheat, durum and barley to the CWB between
August 1, 2000 and June 26, 2001, will receive an adjustment
payment. The payments will be mailed on July 6 or received by
direct deposit on July 4. Farmers who wish to defer payments have
until June 28 to notify the CWB by calling 1-800-275-4292.
This is the third adjustment to the 2000-01 initial payment. The
CWB monitors pool account activity throughout the crop year.
Recommendations for further adjustments to the initial payments
will be made when sales and market conditions warrant.
Initial payments should not be confused with monthly Pool Return
Outlooks (PROs) which are the CWB´s estimates of total pool
year returns.

foreign currency. Marketing Prairie-grown wheat and barley to over
70 countries around the world, the CWB returns all sales revenue,
less the costs of marketing, to farmers in Western Canada.
