LYNK AUTOMATION EXPANDS WITH GOVERNMENT OF CANADA ASSISTANCE

SYDNEY, N.S. -- Lynk Automation, a division of Lynk Electric Ltd., Sydney, has expanded their control panel manufacturing facility with Government of Canada assistance. The control panels are used in a variety of water and waste-water systems. The expansion will allow the company to fill larger orders.

The total estimated cost of the project is $150,000. Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC) will make a repayable contribution of $75,000 through the Business Development Program.

"When strong local companies identify expansion opportunities which will improve infrastructure and create jobs in their communities, the Government of Canada's business development assistance programs are ready to work with them in achieving these all–important steps in our economic growth and prosperity," said Mark Eyking, Member of Parliament for Sydney-Victoria, speaking on behalf of Gerry Byrne, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and ECBC.

"The support we have received from the Government of Canada has helped this company take advantage of an opportunity to expand and grow," said Allan Hawco, Controls and Instrumentation Supervisor, Lynk Automation.

Lynk Electric Ltd. has been in business for over 50 years and presently has four main divisions - Automation, Mechanical, HVAC and Electrical Contracting. Its staff of technologists and trades people serve commercial, industrial and municipal markets. The company has also developed a strong background in the construction, installation, and commissioning of water and waste-water systems.

Lynk Automation has extensive experience in the manufacturing of computer-based control systems for these applications and its electrical, control-panel, manufacturing facility is CSA approved. Its growth in the

field of control-panel fabrication includes the development of Lynk's own product known as the model LPC-1 Duplex Pump Station Control System which has extensive end-user feedback.

Funding for this project was provided for in the February 2000 budget and is therefore built into the existing financial framework.

Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation offers programs in support of economic development initiatives and is responsible for delivering ACOA' s programs on Cape Breton Island and in the Mulgrave area.
