ECBC Support Helps Festivals and Events in Inverness County and Mulgrave
Inverness County, NS – A wide variety of festivals and events in Inverness County and Mulgrave have received financial support from Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC), through its Festivals and Events program. ECBC has committed a total of $185,885 to 47 different projects across Cape Breton Island and Mulgrave. In Inverness County and Mulgrave, $42,385 has been committed to nine local events.
Rick Beaton, Vice-President of ECBC, said that the festivals and events that received funding demonstrated strategic economic impact, project feasibility and sustainability. ECBC offered funding up to $7,500 to those incorporated, non-profit organizations that fulfilled the criteria.
“Festivals and special events are proven generators of tourism activity. They serve to extend visits and increase tourist expenditures. This in itself, makes ECBC’s program meaningful,” says Rodger Cuzner, MP for Bras d’Or -Cape Breton, on behalf of the Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of State for ECBC. “The Festivals and Events program helps to maintain and enhance
Cape Breton’s reputation as a first class tourist destination.”
“ECBC is pleased to offer support as best we can to help make Island festivals and events possible,” says Rick Beaton of ECBC. “Cape Breton has a reputation for great entertainment and hospitality and these festivals and events are a way to showcase that spirit.”
The Festivals and Events program is designed to build capacity and provide quality attractions that will enhance both the tourism and arts and culture sectors on Cape Breton Island.
