Mandate

BDC offers financial services, consulting services, subordinate financing and venture capital. We have a particular focus on the emerging and exporting sectors of the economy.

BDC's services are available across Canada in both official languages through a network of more than 80 branches. Its head office is in Montreal.

BDC is required to submit an annual five-year corporate plan to the Canadian government outlining: 
  		• its objects and purposes 
  		•  its objectives for the five-year period of the plan
  		•

    What BDC does not offer?
  		• Grants/subsidies or non interest-bearing loans
  		•

    Lines of credit

  		•  Residential or non-commercial loans
  		• Loans to bars, night clubs, gambling facilities, sexually exploitive businesses
  		•  Loans to private clubs or organizations that limit participation to a restricted group
  		• Loans to companies that are in default of environmental regulations and do not want to comply
  		•  Loans to companies whose main operations/activities (over 50%) are outside of Canada
  		• Bank accounts, term deposits, investment certificates
  		•  Sale of RRSPs, insurance

  • Vehicle or equipment leasing

  		•  Loans to private health care businesses that encourage the development of a two tier health care system.
