Farm Credit Canada remains a top Canadian employer

Regina, Saskatchewan – For the third straight year, Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is one of the top companies to work for in Canada, according to a national study.

FCC ranks 12th on the 50 Best Employers in Canada list, released in The Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine. Last year, FCC placed 35th on the list.

The annual list is prepared by the global human resources consulting firm Hewitt Associates and The Globe and Mail. This year, 137 Canadian organizations and more than 100,000 employees participated in Hewitt's confidential employee opinion surveys. The study measures employee engagement and identifies three key drivers—leadership direction, career development and opportunities, and recognition.

"FCC employees are dedicated to serving agriculture and being their best every day for customers and colleagues," says John Ryan, FCC President and CEO. "We believe in motivating our employees and inspiring them to do their best work in order to provide an extraordinary customer experience. The greater the alignment between leaders and employees, the more we can attract talented people to serve our customers and the agricultural industry."

According to the study, one of the areas FCC does well is an emphasis on creating a culture of respect and acknowledgement. Elvira Barton, who works at the FCC Regina Corporate Office, says the FCC cultural practices have helped her become more aware of how her actions impact others—and ultimately business results. "Now I'm starting anew with everyone. I realize that I have a team of more than 1,000 people committed to my success and the success of the business."

"Behind each cultural practice is one of FCC's fundamental values—such as integrity, respect and trust," says Vincent Giard, FCC District Manager in St-Hyacinthe, Quebec. "These values form the basis of our behaviour and our way of doing business with our customers and with the public."

FCC is Canada's largest provider of business and financial solutions to farms and agribusiness. Operating out of 100 offices located primarily in rural Canada, FCC employees are passionate about the business of agriculture. A healthy portfolio of $11 billion and 12 consecutive years of portfolio growth are a reflection of our customers' success.
