FCC donates to Community Services Village

Regina, Saskatchewan, April 27, 2006 - Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is donating $125,000 to the Regina and District Food Bank's new Community Kitchen.

FCC's donation will fund the FCC Community Kitchen's operating costs and community programs for the next five years, in support of the Community Services Village capital campaign.

“The Community Services Village is an integral part of the Regina community,” says Michael Hoffort, FCC Vice-President, Partners and Channels. “The FCC Community Kitchen programs provide the skills people need to make nutritious meals for themselves and their families. We invite our corporate peers to join us in supporting the capital campaign.”

The FCC Community Kitchen offers educational programs and training as part of a long-term solution for hunger and poverty in Regina. Community programs teach valuable food management skills, enabling people to prepare nutritious meals and reduce the need for food bank services.

"Food and the preparation of food brings people together and helps them discover their strengths,” says Roni Spetalnick, Director of the Adult Centre for Employment Readiness and Training at the Community Services Village. “Our kitchen, because of FCC's donation, is available to do that, not just for the Community Services Village, but for the community in general."

FCC is Canada's largest provider of business and financial solutions to farms and agribusiness. Operating out of 100 offices located primarily in rural Canada, FCC employees are passionate about the business of agriculture. A healthy portfolio of $11 billion and 12 consecutive years of portfolio growth are a reflection of our customers' success.
