Fuelling the spirit of rural Canada

Stoughton, Saskatchewan, February 1 , 2006 – The Stoughton Complex is benefiting from a $5,000 donation from the Farm Credit Canada (FCC) AgriSpirit Fund.

Through the FCC AgriSpirit Fund, the Complex will meet the recreational needs of the community with change rooms, washrooms and showers in the new swimming pool and curling rink. This new addition to the facility enhances the social and recreational experience for new and current users in Stoughton and surrounding area.

“We’re proud to give even more back to rural Canada where our customers and employees live and work,” says FCC Regina District Manager Brent Bender. “The enthusiasm of Canadians is evident in the projects being created in our rural communities. It’s that spirit and passion that makes Stoughton a great place to live.”

“The Stoughton Complex is grateful for the contribution from FCC. It shows their commitment to a rural community such as Stoughton. The new facility will be enjoyed by young and old in the area for years to come,” says Laird Gervais, Stoughton Complex Building Committee.

From the 489 applications received this past winter, FCC selected 38 projects from across Canada.

In November 2004, FCC announced the AgriSpirit Fund. This Fund awarded $400,000 towards capital projects for rural Canadian communities with populations under 100,000. The FCC AgriSpirit Fund is continuing in 2005-06.
