The Bank of Canada is committed to strengthening bank note security and to maintaining a high level of public confidence in Canadian bank notes as a medium of exchange. To this end, the Bank regularly surveys Canadian businesses and citizens in order to better understand how and why paper money is used by assessing stakeholder awareness, attitudes, and behaviours with respect to bank notes.
The results of these surveys allow the Bank to monitor its progress, to identify potential issues or opportunities, and to adapt its programs, tools, and services accordingly.
Following are the results of three recent surveys conducted or commissioned by the Bank:
