Supplementary Services Literature for the Blind

Literature for the Blind is a service available from Canada Post allowing blind persons and recognized institutions for the blind to mail free of postage specific items used by blind persons.

Admissible items in Canada include items impressed in Braille or similar raised type; plates for printing literature for the blind; tapes and records posted by the blind in Canada; for delivery in Canada and recording tapes, records and special writing paper intended solely for the use of the blind when mailed by or addressed to a recognized institution for the blind.

The maximum weight is 7 kg. Add on services such as Registered (500 g) which should be endorsed "Braille Free" can be applied to Literature for the Blind at no charge.

This service is available to the U.S.A. and to international destinations at no charge when sent by surface mail. Add-on services such as Registered Mail are also free of charge. Although the objective of the service is the same for Canada, the U.S.A. and international destinations, some minor variations exist in the rules and conditions.
