Netiquette

The forums and chats on www.citizenvoices.gg.ca are open to everyone, so feel free to join in the debates in the spirit of respectful dialogue. Disagreements and constructive arguments are welcome as part of the discussions; however, abusive or insulting comments are prohibited.

Moderation

All forums and chats will be moderated. All messages will be read and validated by the site team prior to being posted, which is why there will be a delay between when you send your message and when it is posted on the site. We hope that this will enable us to maintain the quality of the dialogue and avoid offensive comments or those that are simply off topic. The moderators reserve the right to delete any message, in whole or in part, that does not comply with the netiquette rules.

The following will be systematically rejected:

  • messages that are contrary to the principles of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
  • racist, hateful, sexist, homophobic, slanderous, insulting, or life-threatening messages
  • serious, unproven or inaccurate accusations against individuals or organizations
  • aggressive, coarse, violent, obscene, pornographic, etc. comments
  • messages where the sender is not the author
  • messages for advertising purposes
  • announcements from labour, political, etc. organizations
  • messages written in a language other than English or French
  • unintelligible or irrelevant messages
  • and any other message that the forum moderators feel will not add to the normal flow of debate.

The moderators will also ensure that a diverse range of opinions and points of view are expressed, beyond a partisan debate about political persons and actors.

In accordance with these rules, the moderators reserve the right to reject any message, in whole or in part.

Anyone acting contrary to these rules may be temporarily or permanently excluded from the dialogue spaces on the site.

During the week, moderation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m (EST).

We will endeavour to remove any errors from messages to ensure that they will be understood by everyone. Such correction will apply to the form of the message only, not to the content. However, it may not be possible to correct all errors.

If you would like to know why your message was rejected, feel free to contact the moderators at moderator@gg.ca.
