The Public Register of Arms,
Flags and Badges of Canada

Introduction

The Public Register of Arms, Flags and Badges of Canada contains the records of every grant, registration, or approval of a heraldic emblem made through the Canadian Heraldic Authority.

Each volume of the Public Register corresponds to the term of office of a Governor General. Thus, the grants and registrations made during the term of the Rt. Hon. Jeanne Sauvé (1988-1990) form Volume I; those made during the term of the Rt. Hon. Ramon Hnatyshyn (1990-1995) form Volume II; those made during the term of the Rt. Hon. Roméo LeBlanc (1995-1999) form Volume III; and those made during the term of the Rt. Hon. Adrienne Clarkson (1999-2005) form Volume IV. Grants and registrations made since the installation of Her Excellency the Rt. Hon. Michaëlle Jean in 2005 are entered in Volume V.

Notice of each grant, registration, or approval is also published approximately twice a year in the Canada Gazette.

The information in the Public Register is open to the public, although it has not yet been published. At present, it may be viewed, by appointment, at the offices of the Canadian Heraldic Authority in Ottawa.

The first 100 pages of Volume III and the first 420 pages of Volume IV of the Register are accessible online at: http://www.gg.ca/heraldry/pub-reg/main.asp?lang=e&welcome=true.
