Ceremonial Guard summer activities at Rideau Hall have already begun!

The Ceremonial Guard is a crowd favourite among Rideau Hall visitors. Their scarlet tunics and busbies are a sure sign of summer at the Governor General's residence. This summer, don't miss the following Ceremonial Guard special activities:

Relief of the Sentries: Led by a piper, the new guard march to their posts in front of Rideau Hall as well as at the Sussex Gate, where their master corporal changes the guard by calling the duties of the sentries; the piper and the master corporal then march the old guard off their posts. Until August 27: Daily, performed every hour on the hour, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Band of the Ceremonial Guard: Enjoy one of Canada's finest military bands. This concert – which is part of the Governor General's summer concert series – will take place on Sunday, July 16, 2006, at 4 p.m.

These events are open to the media.
