Art Matters at Rideau Hall:

Their Excellencies have added a forum for reflection and dialogue to the official ceremonies and presentation of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards. Art Matters will give participants the opportunity to examine a particular artistic practice and explore its changes and challenges. The Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards will be held in conjunction with the launch of Art Matters, the first-ever series of art workshops to be held at Rideau Hall.  The Art Matters discussions will kick off at Rideau Hall at 11:45 a.m. on Friday November 3rd and 4th and will give key players in the film and broadcasting community creative space to dialogue on how visual technology impacts our society.

Some thirty participants—producers, artists and academics—will be taking part. As well, the public is invited to share its thoughts on Art Matters by visiting the Citizen Voices Web site, which is actively involved in Art Matters through a forum and a blog on creativity and new technology.
