Show the detailed identifying information on all Publications Mail items.

On unwrapped and clear-wrapped items, the detailed identifying information may be shown inside the publication and only the basic identifying information on the outside.
•
On opaque-wrapped items, show the detailed identifying (not the basic) on the outside of the wrapper.
Print
Print all identifying information in at least a 6 pt font and with sufficient contrast to its background to be clearly legible.
Basic Identifying Information
The basic identifying information is:
•
the Publications Mail Agreement Number in the format: PM 40012345 or Publications Mail Agreement 40012345 followed by
•
the Registration Number, if applicable, in one of the following formats: R12345 or Registration 12345. (This number is assigned by the Department of Canadian Heritage to those publications eligible under the Publications Assistance Program [PAP].)
Show the basic identifying information in one of the following locations:

Detailed Identifying Information
The detailed identifying information is comprised of:
•
the Publications Mail service name
•
the Agreement Number
•
the Registration Number, if applicable
•
the Canadian address to which the Canadian addresses on undeliverable publications are to be returned.
Show the detailed information in one of the following locations:
If item is

an unwrapped or clear-wrapped magazine
first five or last five pages of each issue (not counting the covers); or in the masthead or on the first page of the table of contents; or on an insert card; or on the outside of the publication to replace the basic identifying information.
an unwrapped newspaper or newsletter
first five or last five pages of each issue (not counting the front two or back two pages); or in the masthead or on the first page of the table of contents; or on an insert card; or on the outside of the publication to replace the basic identifying information.

identifying numbers and service name — in the upper right corner on the front or in the middle of the flap on the back
•
Canadian address for undeliverable address returns — in the upper left corner on the front or in the middle of the flap on the back.
1.2 Indicia
Application
While postal indicia are optional for Publications Mail, customers may show proof of payment by printing the Publications Mail indicia on the publication wrapper or envelope, or on one of the covers, (if visible through the wrapper or unwrapped).
Identifying Information
Show the Agreement Number in the indicia and the Registration Number, if applicable, below the indicia.
Size
Print the indicia to be at least 19 x 36 mm and no larger than 39 x 73 mm.
Quiet Zones
Leave sufficient clear space around the indicia, Agreement and Registration numbers so that they can be easily seen on or through the wrapper.
On envelopes, place only the indicia, Agreement and Registration numbers in an area 74 mm wide by 40 mm high in the upper right corner.
