9. Machineable Newspapers

9.1  Addressing Requirements  

Ensure the destination address can easily be read when holding in your right hand a newspaper with its fold at the bottom.


9.1.1  Clear Spaces Around the Address  

Leave the following clear spaces around the address block:

10 mm to the left, right and below.
6 mm above the top line of the address.


9.2  Unwrapped Single Copy  

Show the address in the upper left corner of a newspaper when the folded side is at the bottom.


9.3  Wrapped Single Copy  

Show the address on the outside of the paper wrapper or sleeve.



9.3.1  Size and Slippage  

Wrapping an Enclosure

To achieve an acceptable fit between an oversize wrapping and its enclosure:

Pull the cover tightly over the contents.
Fold the required portion of the wrapper to the back of the item.
Securely tape this portion.

Ensure that the destination address and other delivery instructions appear on the front of the item.


Sleeves

Use sleeves that fit their contents closely enough that the sleeves will stay in position during processing and not move.
