Purpose

This manual provides a description of Canada Post's requirements regarding the preparation of individual items of Addressed Admail.

For more information on Addressed Admail, see the Postal Guide, Section C - Chapter 10 - Addressed Admail.

Options

You have the following options in preparing your Admail:

Presort – Sequence, group, containerize, and label your mailings according to one of the following Canada Post plans:
National Distribution Guide (NDG) Presort
Letter Carrier Presort (LCP)
Machineable – Prepare your mailings so that they can be processed by Canada Post machinery and be sorted according to one of the following:
Address
Bar code.

The preparation done by the customer for Presort Mail makes it possible for Canada Post to eliminate some of the processing steps in handling this mail. As a result, customers have more freedom in the design of Presort Mail than for Machineable Mail.

This manual has been organized according to these different requirements. Sections 1 and 2 describe the few requirements that are applicable to Presort Mail. The remaining sections, 3 to 8, explain the requirements for Machineable Mail.
