Photo GalleryGovernor General's Performing Arts AwardsHer Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, honoured recipients of the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards during a special ceremony held at Rideau Hall on Friday, November 4, 2005. The 2005 Governor General's Performing Arts Award recipients were Peter Boneham, choreographer, Jackie Burroughs, actress, Marcel Dubé, O.C., playwright and author, Oliver Jones, O.C., pianist, and Moses Znaimer, television producer, director and presenter. Gail Asper, volunteer, fundraiser and compassionate community leader, was presented with the Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award for Voluntarism in the Performing Arts, while k.d. Lang, singer and songwriter, received the National Arts Centre Award. In the evening of Saturday, November 5, the Governor General and His Excellency Jean Daniel Lafond attended a gala tribute performance at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, where outstanding performers celebrated the award recipients.
