Photo GalleryOfficial Visit to AlbertaHer Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, speaks to the people of Edmonton during a public ceremony at City Hall on May 5, 2006. During her speech, the Governor General honoured four Albertans with the Caring Canadian Award, an award presented to Canada’s “unsung heroes”, those individuals and groups whose unpaid, voluntary contributions provide extraordinary help or care to people in the community. The Governor General conducted her first regional visit to Alberta from May 4 to 6, 2006. During her three-day visit, Her Excellency focused on building dialogue and forging links with as many Albertans as possible, including the military and their spouses, school children and youth, as well as community volunteers. This was her 7th provincial visit since the beginning of her mandate. Photo InformationDate: May 5, 2006 |
