Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, joins in an impromptu videophone conversation with Master Corporal Christian Montvert based in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and his wife Rachelle Montvert (seated) at the Military Family Resource Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. The May 4 visit to the Canadian Forces Base in Edmonton was part of the Governor General’s first official visit to Alberta, from May 4 to 6, 2006. During her three-day visit, Her Excellency focused on building dialogue and forging links with as many Albertans as possible, including the military and their spouses, school children and youth, as well as community volunteers.
