Tribute to Marie-Josèphe Angélique in Montreal – April 7, 2006

Governor General Michaëlle Jean takes part in a guided walk in Montreal on April 7, 2006, to retrace the footsteps and life of Marie-Josèphe Angélique, a Black slave charged with arson and subsequently hanged publicly in Montreal in June 1734. The walk was led by Ms. Denyse Beaugrand-Champagne, historian and author of Le Procès de Marie-Josèphe Angélique.
