During their visit to Qu’Appelle, Governor General Michaëlle Jean and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond took part in a community gathering at the school. Earlier in the day, the Governor General visited the Treaty 4 Governance Centre in Fort Qu’Appelle and toured the town on foot. The Governor General conducted her first regional visit to Saskatchewan from May 8 to 10, 2006. During her three-day visit, Her Excellency focused on activities that empowered groups of diverse backgrounds, from youth and First Nations to residents of North Central Regina’s inner city, to be heard. This was her 8th provincial visit since the beginning of her mandate.
