Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, met with RCMP cadets and officers during her visit to the RCMP Academy in Regina on May 10, 2006. The Governor General toured the RCMP Buffalo Scenario Village, addressed cadets, visited the historic chapel and laid flowers at the Cenotaph to honour fallen members. The Governor General conducted her first regional visit to Saskatchewan from May 8 to 10, 2006. During her three-day visit, Her Excellency focused on activities that empowered groups of diverse backgrounds, from youth and First Nations to residents of North Central Regina’s inner city, to be heard. This was her 8th provincial visit since the beginning of her mandate.
