Message from the Minister of Health

Seniors Month - June, 2006

In June, across the country, we celebrate our seniors. It is a time to remember seniors’ accomplishments and the important contributions they have made to you, your family, your community, and your country.

The best approach seniors can take to enjoy healthy aging is to practice proper nutrition, participate in physical activity, understand personal medication use, and be aware of injury prevention methods.

Promoting healthy living and well-being for seniors will not only enhance the quality of their lives, but also help to ensure that they continue to contribute to our community through knowledge and expertise. The Public Health Agency of Canada promotes healthy living and understands the importance of promoting healthy aging for seniors, especially given Canada’s aging population.

As Minister of Health, I encourage all Canadians to take time this month to acknowledge the valuable social role seniors play in each of our lives and for Canada.

Tony Clement
Minister of Health
