The Black and White Opera Soiree raises a record-breaking $345,000 for the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Opera Lyra Ottawa.
Held on Saturday, February 18, the Soiree was a terrific success, reaching a fundraising total that topped last year’s by 38%. The $345,000 raised will be shared equally between the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Opera Lyra Ottawa and invested in developing Canadian musical talent.
The Soiree audience was once again charmed by returning host Colm Feore as the theme of the evening’s entertainment — Love, Death and Divas — was brought to life by soprano Adrianne Pieczonka, baritone Russell Braun, the Opera Lyra Chorus, Chorusmaster Lawrence Ewashko, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra under the direction of Richard Bradshaw. Our sincere thanks go out to all these talented performers for making the evening such a glorious experience.
The Black and White Opera Soiree was presented by proud Founding Sponsor Bell Canada for the ninth year in a row, in association with Enbridge Inc. and Scotiabank.
Thanks also go out to the Black and White Opera Soiree Volunteer Committee, and their chair, Lawson A.W.Hunter, Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Officer, BCE and Bell Canada, for all their hard work.
